Business Analyst & IT Developer - Gas & Power Trading

TotalEnergies installed its European trading hub across in Geneva, which now bring together very large teams around trading activities: TotalEnergies Trading & Shipping (T&S) and TotalEnergies Gas and Power (TGP).

TotalEnergies Gas and Power (TGP) is the trading arm of TotalEnergies in the field of low carbon energies. As such, it operates in fast-evolving market dynamics influenced by internal and external factors that require constant adaptation and evolution.
The Trading division in Geneva is responsible for optimising the purchase & sales portfolios of gas, electricity, CO2 emissions, dry bulk, and LNG in all recognised markets worldwide, in compliance with the Company trading guidelines.
In such context, TGP helps to ensure growth and profitability to a key segment of the business in order to reach the objective of Carbon Neutrality by 2050.

What you will do:
As a recent graduate, you will work within the Trading IT team of TotalEnergies with a particular focus on the gas & power trading division. You will work on different projects with either a business analyst or developer focus, contributing to the development of trading applications used by the business. You will join the Power Analytics Team, a part of Gas & Power Trading IT. You will report to the General Manager, Gas & Power Trading IT.

Your main tasks will be the following :
Contribute and rotate between projects and other change initiatives
Develop your knowledge and experience of any of the following, via practical training
Agile/project management methodologies and tools
Programming languages such as Python, Angular, Java and C#
Data science and AI/ML technologies
Requirements engineering
Stay informed of industry and market developments, learn the fundamentals of energy sector and trading
Act as an interface between IT and the business teams, and ensure an understanding of the business objectives and priorities
Define business/functional requirements and ensure consistency with the IT strategy
Manage a backlog of change requirements and assist in the delivery thereof, and provide ongoing support for live business applications
Develop applications in a team, and ensure the quality/performance of your code
Prepare and execute test plans together with the business and IT teams
Perform any other tasks as requested by your manager/supervisor

Context and environment
Must demonstrate an ability to work in a highly demanding and fast moving trading environment subject to constant change demonstrating leadership potential. Additionally, must be ablet to manage multiple internal and external working relationships with the trading floor, middle office, back office, legal and IT departments internally. Externally responsible for developing and maintaining relationships with external counterparts, banks exchanges and industry bodies to enhance the position of Total Gas & Power Limited. This must all be achieved within the constraints of company credit and risk policies.

Your Profiles
You recently graduated with up to two years of work experience
You hold a Master’s degree or equivalent with a focus on mathematics, computer science or a similar technical discipline
Knowledge in Power and Gas Trading would be a plus
Good communication skills, team player, ambitious, motivated, analytical, problem solver, fast learner
Knowledge of data science and advanced analytics, and with demonstrable programming skills
Strong interest in developing a career in energy and/or commodity trading
Fluent in English; competency in French is advantageous
