Description
Education and Qualifications :
Postgraduate (PhD) degree in meteorology/climatology
Experience :
Minimum 5 years of professional experience within climatology and meteorology field.
Skills :
Strong numerical and analytical
Ability to programme in advanced level in R, Matlab, C, Python and VBA
Expertise in quantitative modelling and machine learning
Ability to communicate top line results / big picture and to prepare & present reports to a high standard and communicate ideas/thoughts in a concise, logical manner.
Understanding commodity crop cycles, weather impact and demand factors
English at c1 level, Turkish c2 or native
Job Purpose :
To provide extensive consultancy on all weather and climate related matters, to advise traders upon forecasted and historical climate and weather data in connection to agri commodities production and trading.
Responsibilities:
To forecast weather and communicate findings/forecast to traders in a timely manner
To analyze weather model updates (GFS/Euros etc)
Using weather data build estimate production
To hold “weather” conference calls with traders and frequently communicate findings to the trading team
data collection, processing, analysis, interpretation, presentation, and producing scientific reports;
to manage global and regional climate change and weather forecasting projects and commodity focus groups
To work directly with senior leadership of freight operations team based in Istambul for consultation and forecasting on a daily basis.
To prepare daily reporting and daily/ weekly/quarterly and long term weather forecast for freight team operations team located in Turkey
To contribute to CIL global sustainability agenda and strategy
Key Result Areas: (Key Performance Indicators) :
Accurate/sound analysis of weather models
Communication with traders
