We are seeking to appoint an inspirational, highly motivated and experienced Assistant Principal - IB PYP Programme Coordinator whose vision, commitment, and enthusiasm for teaching and learning will guide the Primary School in maintaining and developing a strong intellectual, physical, social and emotional foundation for our students.

Reports to: The Primary School Principal

The Assistant Principal - IB PYP Coordinator will:
● Be a member of the Primary School Educational Leadership Team
● Assist the Primary School Principal in the day to day management of the primary school
● Share the responsibility of the operations of the primary school in the absence of the principal with the Assistant Principal Pastoral
● Teach up to 40%

The Assistant Principal - IB PYP Coordinator is responsible for assisting the Principal in:
● Assessing future curriculum needs of the Primary School
● The orientation and mentoring of new staff
● The appraisal and professional development of staff
● Recognising and developing staff leaders
● Maintaining a safe and orderly environment that is conducive to teaching and learning
● Ensuring high standards of teaching and learning
● Promoting positive communication at all levels in the school community
● Ensuring effective student assessment and record keeping

The Assistant Principal - IB PYP Coordinator is responsible for:
● Promoting the philosophy, principles and practices of the IB PYP
● Leading the coordination, review and development of the primary school curriculum
● Coordinating the vertical articulation of the curriculum between the primary and middle schools
● Providing comprehensive information about the curriculum programme, its aims and requirements to students, parents and teachers as appropriate
● Preparing and submitting all documentation required for evaluation and accreditation
● Leading the curriculum review process
● Leading collaborative planning meetings
● Communicating with the IB
● Leading, organizing and recommending professional development
● Organizing and maintaining curriculum documentation
● Staying current with educational research and practices
● Leading data informed discussions
● Analysing data for curriculum development
● Undertaking other responsibilities and duties as required by the Director or Primary School Principal

Qualifications and Qualities Required
• Commitment to excellence in education
• A proven track-record as an international curriculum leader and successful teacher
• Knowledge of and a commitment to the educational philosophies of the International
Baccalaureate programmes and the ISL Mission and Aims
• Excellent written and spoken communication skills
• Ability to think strategically and creatively
• Ability to meet high expectations of students, colleagues and a professional parent community
• Outstanding interpersonal skills
• A recognized teaching qualification at post-graduate level • A high level of cultural awareness and international mindedness
• Adaptability, sensitivity, dynamism and a sense of humour
• Commitment to self-reflection and professional development
• Proven skills in achieving international accreditation and IB authorization
• Ability to analyse data for curriculum development
• Excellent ICT skills and a knowledge of their effective use to support pedagogy
