Description

A rare opportunity to help shape a small, high-quality bilingual educational project from an early stage.

A hands-on role combining pedagogy, structure, and meaningful engagement with children and families.

We are developing a boutique bilingual primary school project in the Lausanne area and are looking for an experienced and inspiring educator to help guide and shape the project as it enters its next phase of development.

This is a rare opportunity to contribute to an educational environment with a clear vision: combining strong Montessori foundations with a carefully guided transition towards structured academic learning.

Alongside this role, we are continuing to build a small, high-quality teaching team and welcome interest from experienced teachers who may wish to contribute to the project.

The school:

We are developing a small, family-oriented primary environment, typically serving children from ages 4 through the later primary years.

The early years (ages 4–6) are fully Montessori. From age 6 onwards, children transition progressively into more structured academic learning, drawing on a broader range of complementary child-centred pedagogical approaches, while maintaining a strong emphasis on independence, clarity of thinking, and academic excellence.

The school is fully bilingual (French–English), with the aim of developing real fluency and academic capability in both languages.

We place particular importance on individual attention, pastoral care, and a strong sense of community.

The project is rooted in a spiritually open, non-denominational approach, welcoming families of all backgrounds, and fostering respect, reflection, and a sense of meaning. This extends naturally into a strong connection with nature, outdoor learning, and the surrounding environment.

The project is based in a warm, intimate setting with a private garden and outdoor play area, as well as nearby green spaces. The project builds on prior experience within a school-designated setting.

The project also benefits from access to an alpine environment in the Verbier region, supporting seasonal outdoor activities and contributing to a broader approach to physical development, resilience, and experiential learning.

A core group of families, children, and educators is already engaged with the educational project, and we are now looking to bring additional structure and leadership as the project develops.

Structure:

The project combines a full-time programme with a hybrid section supporting families from the homeschooling community already connected to the broader educational project.

This hybrid model offers bespoke educational support, complementing home-based learning while maintaining pedagogical coherence.

As the project develops, it is expanding towards a more structured full-time and part-time provision.

The role:

The successful candidate will play a central, hands-on role in the life of the project, working in close partnership with the founders to help shape and develop the school over time.

This includes leading or supporting the day-to-day running, bringing structure and clarity to a growing environment, contributing to curriculum and educational development, guiding the Montessori to academic transition, and working closely with teachers and families.

For candidates with appropriate experience and interest, the role may evolve towards broader pedagogical and organisational leadership within the school.

As the project develops, the role may also involve engaging with relevant local authorities and contributing to the project’s formal structuring and development.

This is a practical, engaged role with a strong presence in the classroom environment.

Profile:

We are looking for someone who is comfortable working in both French and English, holds recognised teaching qualifications, and has experience with primary-aged children.

The role would suit someone who enjoys being actively involved in the classroom, is happy to teach and support when needed, and brings a grounded, practical approach. A natural ease with children and an interest in building a school environment over time are essential.

Experience with Montessori and/or international education would be an advantage.

Team:

We are also recruiting a small number of teaching positions to complement the existing team, particularly in science, mathematics, and physical education.

Experienced teachers who are interested in contributing to a small, high-quality bilingual environment are welcome to apply directly via this advert.
