For an international company in the global agribusiness market in 4332 Stein (AG) we are looking for a Biology Research Scientist - temp. assignment (100%), min. 1 year
Responsibilities
- Is fully responsible for scheduling and plan and execute scientific experiments or equivalent tasks
- Support projects and testing and analysis.
- Actively contributes to experimental programs in consultation with line manager & scientific experts
- Documents experiments and test results. May interpret data and proposes adequate follow up.
- Administrates a fully descriptive lab journal to assure reproducibility of tests/experiments.
- Records, communicates test abnormalities and errors and enables improvement
- Responsible for maintenance of laboratories, laboratory equipment and instruments
- May provide training and technical advice to other lab staff
- May represent department on project teams.
- Evaluates, reports and implements new ideas in consultancy with line managers & scientific experts
- May coordinate routine & non-routine technical work in own area
- Understands defined process flows and methods, norms and guidelines in own area of biology (i.e. application technology, insects, plants or fungi rearing or logistics, data handling, equipment).
- Drives for high quality but as well efficiency in a given range of responsibility (output - input relation).
- Improves/develops and reports new methods, risk assessments and SOPs (with appropriated coaching, depending on complexity)
- Openness to new ideas and technology, proposes solutions for improvement and supports implementation especially considering digital tools
- Establishes a network with other teams in Biology & Logistics as appropriate for the positions
- May report and communicate results, outcomes in oral and written form (simple reports or presentations in English). Offers and actively collects relevant information to/from colleagues and supervisors.
- Share knowledge and examples of best practice.
- May be active as apprentice trainer for a specialised area
- May contribute in small work group to address specific topics
- Develops & maintains comprehensive agro-biology, crop protection and farming technical practice.
- May work in cross indication/function operational/organisational projects to improve efficiency and efficacy (i.e. in flexTeams)
- Ensure compliance of HSE (Health, safety and environment) to Syngenta standards, encourage and propagate best practice especially in the area of biosafety.
Profile
- Apprenticeship in Agrobiology or other technical discipline / BMS or BSc in agrobiology disciplines or equivalent professional education
- Good knowledge of English language written and spoken (Level B1 or above)
- 2-3 years of experience in lab positions
- Ability to work in matrix organisation
- Own contribution to delivery of projects.
- Has good indication knowledge and shares knowledge and best practises as needed
- Openness and flexibility to change and actively support the implementation of change
- Think cross team for operational excellence
- Actively support the implementation of change
- Communicates inspirationally but honestly within team and function. Promote a culture of transparency and open feedback
- Ability to establish a good network and to collaborate effectively
- Digital and technology skills and interest and future facing attitude.
