Description

As the FIA F1 Data Engineer, you will report to the Data Intelligence Team Leader. In this newly created role, your expertise will strengthen the department's data transformation by designing, building, and deploying end-to-end data solutions that enable effective real-time trackside decisions and allow data-driven design of future sporting and technical regulations.
Based in Geneva within a unique Motorsport environment, you will work closely with different technical groups, combining cloud architecture, software engineering, and data processing capabilities to turn complex competition data into scalable, high-performance tools.

MISSIONS AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
Cloud Architecture & Platform Evolution
Lead the adoption, development, and maintenance of cloud-based solutions for the management of competition data across different FIA Championships.
Support cloud migration and adoption of future competition data platform solutions to improve data management and decrease the time-to-value journey.
Participate in the development and maintenance of data storage solutions and access standardization across different championships.

Data Integration & Infrastructure Scalability
Support the integration of heterogeneous data from a growing number of sources, including but not limited to time series, video, audio, and documents.
Ensure service uptime, performance guarantees, and scalability for both cloud and on-premise infrastructure, on and off track.
Implement robust monitoring, alerting, and incident response guidelines to safeguard system reliability under operational constraints.

End-to-End Product Life Cycle & Deployment
Own the end-to-end product life cycle, from requirement gathering and PoC development to the deployment of production-ready solutions designed to scale.
Design and implement capabilities for usability and performance, ensuring solutions are robust, understood by end-users, and adaptable as needs evolve.
Balance system performance with real-world operational requirements, integrating cost-optimization practices across all deployed cloud services.

Team Collaboration & Continuous Innovation
Collaborate closely with other Data team members and participate in regular team reviews for general tool improvements.
Remain up to date with technical best practices in the field and proactively propose improvements for the performance, usability, and observability of our systems.
Actively contribute to a high-performing team by taking initiative and owning technical challenges from inception to resolution.

PROFILE:
University degree (Master's or equivalent experience) in Computer Science, software engineering, or a related technical discipline.
3+ years of hands-on experience designing, implementing, and optimizing robust, scalable, and observable cloud data solutions (AWS experience is a strong asset).
Proven experience with Infrastructure as Code (Terraform / CloudFormation) and microservice architectures, including containerization and orchestration solutions.
Deep proficiency with version control tools, CI/CD pipelines, and scripting languages such as Python and Bash.
Solid understanding of architecture principles, including integration, security, networking, identity, and access management.
Exposure to streaming platforms (Kafka) and stream processing solutions is highly desirable;
Demonstrated ability to learn continuously, work autonomously, and collaborate effectively within multidisciplinary teams of mixed technical expertise.
Fluency in English is required; knowledge of French is appreciated
Strong personal interest in Motorsport and curiosity regarding how data can impact the future of the sport.

This role based in Geneva involves some travel to Formula 1 championship events and occasional weekend work
