GL Accountant - Commodity Trading Company A leading global commodity trading company is looking for a GL Accountant to join its Finance team in Geneva. The successful candidate will play a key role in ensuring accurate financial reporting, maintaining robust accounting processes, and supporting the month-end and year-end close cycles. This role offers exposure to a dynamic international environment and close collaboration with cross-functional teams.

Job Description

ResponsibilitiesGeneral Ledger & Financial Reporting

• Maintain and reconcile general ledger accounts in accordance with IFRS and internal accounting policies.

• Prepare monthly, quarterly, and annual financial statements and supporting schedules.

• Ensure timely and accurate month-end and year-end closing activities.

• Review journal entries, accruals, and adjustments to ensure completeness and accuracy.

• Support statutory reporting and audit processes.

Process Improvement

• Identify opportunities to streamline accounting processes and improve efficiency.

• Participate in finance transformation initiatives and system enhancements.

• Contribute to the development of best practices within the Finance team.

Cross-Functional Collaboration

• Work closely with Treasury, Tax, Operations, and Trading Finance teams.

• Support ad-hoc analysis, reporting, and projects as required by management.

The Successful Applicant

Profile RequiredBackground & Experience

• Bachelor's or Master's degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field.

• 4+ years of experience in audit or accounting, ideally from a Big 4 firm.

• Strong understanding of IFRS and general ledger processes.

• Experience in an international or fast-paced environment is an asset.

Skills & Competencies

• Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills.

• Strong attention to detail and ability to work with large data sets.

• Proactive, structured, and able to manage multiple priorities.

• Strong communication skills and ability to collaborate across teams.

Languages

• Fluent in English and French (spoken and written).

• Additional languages are an advantage.
