Head of Compensation EMEA & APAC

For a leading pharmaceutical organisation


  • Serve as an internal compensation consultant and leader of corporate compensation initiatives for the EMEA & APAC regions.
  • Provide thought leadership, strategic compensation guidance and expertise to HR partners and business management, ensuring synergy with the global total compensation philosophy
  • Proactively perform regional market compensation analysis to evaluate effectiveness and competitiveness of existing compensation
  • programs and model potential impact of alternatives
  • Conduct benchmarking, job evaluation and offer development to support talent initiatives in current and new markets
  • Lead the local execution of global compensation plans and programs; collaborate with Corporate HQ Compensation team and local HR partners to ensure effective end-to-end implementation and delivery of compensation programs (merit, bonus, equity)
  • Act as the single point of contact & solutions oriented expert for questions and issues related to cash and equity compensation
  • Maintain an up to date understanding of current compensation trends and legislation to ensure compliance and best practice
  • Identify, select and participate in compensation surveys to analyze the company's competitive market position for each in-country location (Mercer, Towers, Radford)
  • Perform job evaluations using market pricing methodology and analyze positions for equity across internal/ external peers
  • Provide coaching and guidance to junior staff
  • Create and deliver compensation training to HR and other stakeholders
  • Develop strong working relationships with other HR specialist teams including global mobility, benefits, payroll and finance teams to ensure compensation practices are operated properly in line with global and regional policies


  • Minimum 10 years HR experience and at least 5 years specialist experience in Compensation - supporting the EMEA region, Asia Pacific experience a plus.
  • Solid understanding of EMEA compensation trends, tax and legal environment related to both cash and equity compensation plans
  • Expertise in the design and implementation of base salary, short-term and equity incentive programs
  • Expertise in managing projects with business leaders, HR Business Partners, other HR Functions
  • Ability to consult with colleagues to identify needs and translate those needs to potential solutions
  • Ability to use core technology to report information, analyze data and develop analytical models
  • Ability to forge relationships across a range of styles and cultures to form networks within and outside the company.
  • Demonstrated ability to work autonomously in a high volume role within a large complex business
  • University Degree Required
  • Fluency in English
