Description
The Head of Operations is responsible for the overall leadership, performance, and continuous improvement of two manufacturing sites in Switzerland, Altendorf and Kaiseraugst, ensuring safe, efficient, and reliable operations that meet customer, financial, and quality objectives.
This role oversees all operational areas including Production, Supply Chain, Planning, Procurement, Assembly, Test/FAT, Quality, Logistics, Installation & Commissioning, Health and Safety and related support functions, driving operational consistency, cross-site collaboration and execution discipline across both plants while ensuring a balanced and visible on-site presence at each location.
The Head of Operations ensures that both facilities operate in full alignment with Coesia standards, fostering a culture of accountability, collaboration, and continuous improvement.
In this role, you will report directly to the General Manager of the company.
Operations Leadership
- Lead all day?to?day operations for two manufacturing sites, ensuring safe, efficient, and high?quality execution.
- Deliver operational KPIs including productivity, OTD, lead time, cost, quality, and inventory performance.
- Ensure strong coordination across Production, Assembly, FAT, Supply Chain, Planning, Procurement, Logistics, and Aftermarket execution teams.
Manufacturing Performance & Execution
- Drive operational execution from internal order release through manufacturing, assembly, testing, delivery, installation, and commissioning.
- Ensure production plans, capacity, and resource allocation support customer and business demand.
- Guarantee adherence to production schedules, cost targets, and quality standards.
Supply Chain & Planning Management
- Oversee Supply Chain, including Procurement, Planning, Material Management, and Warehouse operations.
- Ensure supplier performance, material availability, and cost control to support efficient production flow.
- Optimize inventory levels across both sites.
Quality & Compliance and HSE
- Ensure products comply with internal quality standards, customer expectations, and regulatory requirements.
- Strengthen quality systems, drive root?cause investigations, and lead corrective/preventive actions (CAPA). Responsibility for existing ISO 9001 certification
- Promote a zero?defect operational culture across all teams.
- HSE responsibility for the two sites, including future specific ISO certifications coordination / responsibility
Continuous Improvement & Operational Excellence
- Lead Lean/Kaizen programs to improve productivity, reduce waste, and optimize processes.
- Drive systematic performance reviews, KPI dashboards, and accountability routines.
- Embed standard work, best practices, and Coesia Operations Excellence (COE) methodologies across both sites.
Resource, Capacity & Performance Management
- Drive workforce planning, capability development, and performance management across the operations organization.
- Ensure teams are trained, empowered, and structured efficiently to support business growth.
- Optimize equipment, factory layout, and resources to maximize throughput and efficiency.
Risk Management & Issue Resolution
- Identify operational risks and implement proactive mitigation plans.
- Lead rapid response and escalation processes for critical delays, quality issues, or supply disruptions.
- Ensure robust processes for schedule adherence and production stability.
Customer Focus & Cross?Functional Collaboration
- Partner closely with Project Management, Sales, Service, and Finance to ensure seamless customer delivery.
- Support FAT, customer visits, and escalations, guaranteeing transparency and professional communication.
- Align site operations with Coesia Group standards, initiatives, and strategic direction.
Strategic Site Leadership
- Contribute to the long?term strategy for the two sites, including footprint optimization and future capabilities.
- Ensure reporting and alignment with broader Coesia industrial strategy and operational transformation roadmap
