You will play a key role in developing and optimizing inkjet printing technology.MissionAs a senior technical expert, you will own and drive the performance of our writing systems, the heart of our digital printing presses. You will work at the crossroads of mechanics, electronics, software and fluid physics, ensuring our machines deliver outstanding print quality, reliability, and industrial performance.Responsibilities- Drive system design and development of writing system performance targets across printheads, ink delivery, motion and control systems- Challenge existing designs and introduce innovative solutions- Own complex systems end-to-end- Act as technical owner from concept to product launch- Ensure alignment between performance, quality, cost and business needs into robust engineering solutions- Experiment, model & optimize- Develop physical and empirical models (fluid dynamics, drop formation, thermal behavior)- Design and execute advanced experiments (DOE)- Analyze data to improve system performance and reliability- Solve critical technical challenges- Lead root-cause analysis on complex multi-disciplinary issues- Drive corrective actions across hardware, software and product issues from the field- Collaborate & influence- Work closely with multidisciplinary teams (software, electronics, mechanics, chemistry, service)- Communicate complex topics to diverse audiences- Contribute to product roadmaps and technical strategy- Mentor the team- Coach and support engineers in problem-solving and knowledge sharing- Define and implement best practices- Contribute to a culture of engineering excellenceProfile & experience- Degree in Mechanical, Electrical, Physics, Material Science or related field- 8+ years of experience in complex engineering environments- Experience in system-level design and industrial product development- Technical expertise- Strong understanding of complex physical systems (fluid dynamics, thermodynamics, system dynamics)- Experience with experimental setups, data analysis and modeling- Familiarity with tools such as Python or similar- Knowledge of inkjet or drop-on-demand systems is a strong plus- Soft skills make the difference- Strong system mindset- Ability to lead through influence, not hierarchy- Excellent communication skills, both technical and non-technical- Comfortable with ambiguity and complex problems- Intellectual curiosity and drive for resultsReady to make an impact?If you are passionate about solving complex engineering challenges and want to contribute to industrial technologies, we would love to hear from you – and grow with us.BOBST is an engineering company, pioneering intelligent solutions that shape the future of the packaging world.
