Description

Medlog S.A. is the inland logistics arm of MSC Group. The company operates worldwide and provides door-to-door transport and logistics services, using a network of trucks, trains, barges, depots, terminals, and warehouses. Following its fast expansion, Medlog S.A is looking for an Area Supervisor for North America. The position will be based in Geneva (Switzerland) and will report to the Medlog Executive Director.
As Area Supervisor, your main role is to oversee and develop MEDLOG related activities within the area assigned in collaboration with MEDLOG senior management team and local MEDLOG teams.

Key Responsibilities
Strategy
Develop, implement maintain and adjust overall strategy for the assigned area as well as for each entity within the area in collaboration with MEDLOG management team and local MEDLOG teams.

Direction and Performance Monitoring
Provide direction to MEDLOG entities and oversee performance, hereunder commercial performance, operational performance, financial performance, and business development.
Also ensure that clearly defined SOP are in place for key activities and that a transparent procurement process is in place in line with MSC Group
Procurement Guidelines.

Organisation/ HR
Ensure that each entity has the HR management structure which is optimal for the business activities while also considering the agreed strategy.
Ensure that MEDOG Group Policies for employees are being followed.

Support
Coach the MEDLOG management team where required and ensure all entities are supported where and when required, i.e., special skills, legal support, network business, marketing, MSC and MEDLOG liaisons, etc.
Also support with reporting from countries to MEDLOG senior management and MSC Group Management such as board files.

Risk Management, Controls and Compliance
Oversee risk management and ensure that risk register is updated regularly.
Ensure financial controls are in place in accordance with MEDLOG global guidelines.
Sensitivity: Internal
To ensure that company is compliant with local and global regulations as well as MSC compliance
guidelines.

Reporting
Update direct MEDLOG senior management regularly of key performance and key developments for
MEDLOG entities as well as relevant events within the area of responsibility.

Qualifications
Business knowledge
• Experience in the containerised inland transportation is a must have.
• Confirmed experience with the North American inland transportation market.
• Minimum 10 years of intermodal or freight-forwarding experience
• Good understanding of financial statement, ability to deal with data
• Minimum 5 years on managerial role.
• Independent, must be self-motivated and comfortable in a highly visible role.
• Proven ability to negotiate contracts, mediate disputes and diplomatically resolve conflict.

Soft skills
• Team management in a multi-cultural environment
• Ability to work as part of a team.
• Ability to prioritize, multi-task and meet deadlines.
• A can-do attitude and ability to operate outside the box when needed.

Transversal skills
• Excellent oral and written communicative skills in English.
• Proficiency with MS Office products.

Contract:
• Based in Geneva – no remote working policy
• Business travel possible
