Description

In order to complete the Translational Data Science team of the Biomedical Data Science Center at the Lausanne University Hospital (CHUV), we are seeking a highly motivated postdoctoral researcher with a strong quantitative background to join the Gottardo Lab within the Biomedical Data Science Center at the CHUV. The ideal candidate will hold a PhD in biostatistics, computer science, applied mathematics, computational biology, or a related discipline, and have expertise in statistical modeling, machine learning, or large-scale data analysis.

Contexte

The Lausanne University Hospital (CHUV) is one of five Swiss university hospitals. Through its collaboration with the Faculty of Biology and Medicine of the University of Lausanne and the EPFL, CHUV plays a leading role in the areas of medical care, medical research, and training.

The mission of the Biomedical Data Science Center, directed by Professor Raphael Gottardo, is to develop and apply (in collaboration with researchers and clinicians) computer and statistical methods to analyze large amounts of genomic, clinical, and experimental data (single-cell RNAseq, spatial transcriptomics, etc) in order to accelerate medical discoveries that will help us treat our patients better. The project offers the potential to collaborate with experts from different areas within the CHUV (medical oncology, dermatology, translational oncology, etc). We have a wide variety of projects in human immunology, infectious diseases (particularly COVID19, Malaria and HIV) and oncology.


Mission

  • Your primary mission with be the development of computational tools and methods for the analysis of high dimensional data generated in vaccine trials
  • You will collaborate with basic scientists and clinicians to take advantage of large datasets generated by novel experimental technologies (including Chromium, CytAssist, Xenium) to accelerate translational discoveries across the CHUV community and partner institutions
  • You will work on developing new statistical methodology and workflows to facilitate reproducible science and enable cross-assay and cross-study analyses
  • You will integrate a growing team of computational scientists including postdocs/students, data scientists and programmers
  • You help disseminate scientific findings through publications and presentations at national and international conferences.

Profil

  • PhD in biostatistics, computer science, applied mathematics, computational biology, or a related field
  • You have an expertise in statistical modeling, machine learning, or large-scale data analysis
  • An experience with data management and multi-modal datasets is a plus, along with an interest in working collaboratively, teaching and learning from both data scientists and wet-lab biologists
  • Fluent in R and C/C++. Knowledge of statistical concepts and computational methods. Knowledge of Unix/Linux and high-performance computing, a plus.
  • Fluent in English, knowledge of French would be a plus
