Description
The Universal Rights Group (URG) is a not-for-profit civil society organisation working with the UN human rights system to strengthen the enjoyment of human rights. URG has a vacancy for a Researcher to join its team in mid-2026.
The Researcher will support URG’s Executive Director and Analysts to conduct research into pressing human rights concerns, especially thematic (e.g., digital technology and human rights, the right to a healthy environment) and institutional (e.g., UN Human Rights Council reform, national implementation mechanisms). The Researcher will also help draft reports and organise policy dialogues and other URG events.
The position will be based at URG's headquarters in Geneva.
The selected individual should:
Have a Master's degree in international relations, human rights, or related discipline.
Have excellent written skills, especially in English and French.
Be fluent in English and French, and have good working knowledge of Chinese/Mandarin.
Have excellent knowledge of the UN human rights system, including the Human Rights Council, the UPR, the Treaty Bodies, and Special Procedures.
Have at least one year experience working in international Geneva, on human rights issues.
Have at least six months experience working in climate-related research at the intersection of development, human rights, and climate change, preferably in a Least Developed Country vulnerable to climate change.
Have excellent interpersonal skills.
Be a good event organiser, including high-level events.
