Description
4 Scientist Openings at MoleSense:
• Aptamer Scientist
• Analytical Chemist
• Microfluidics Scientist
• Photochemist
Sweat is more than water — it’s a molecular window into human health. At MoleSense (EPFL Neuchâtel or Biopôle Lausanne), we’re developing the next generation of epidermal microfluidic biosensors that decode sweat and interstitial fluid chemistry in real time.
We’re a small, fearless team of scientists and engineers, blending rigor with imagination to transform women’s healthcare — starting with non-invasive monitoring of pregnancies.
Who You Are
If you thrive at the intersection of biology, nanotechnology, and electrochemistry, identifying yourself with one (or several) of the following profiles we want to meet you.
• (Especially for Aptamer Scientist) Expert in nucleic acid chemistry, aptamer engineering, and bioconjugation, with demonstrated experience in SELEX, aptamer selection, structural modification, and nucleic acid folding dynamics. Extensive experience in electrochemical aptamer-based biosensor. DNA nanotechnology and functional nucleic acid architectures are highly desirable.
• (Especially for Analytical Chemist) Strong background in electrochemical biosensing, including techniques such as impedance spectroscopy, cyclic and square-wave voltammetry, and redox-based signal transduction. Expertise in interface chemistry and surface passivation, with experience tailoring redox-active reporters and transduction layers for high sensitivity and stability. Extensive experience in electrochemical aptamer-based biosensor. Proven experience developing multiplexed and regenerable sensor platforms, integrating smart materials, biorecognition elements, and electrochemical signal modulation for dynamic, real-time detection.
• (Especially for Microfluidics Scientist) Developed acoustofluidic, optofluidic, epidermal/wearable microfluidics/lab-on-chip, or organ-on-chip platforms, with a strong theoretical knowledge of fluid mechanics and interfacial physics. Strong experience in epidermal microfluidics for ultra–low-volume sweat sampling, transport, and handling.
• (Especially for Photochemist) Expert with synthetic photochemistry, interface phenomena, and light‐controlled molecular systems, and knowledgeable in photoisomerization kinetics, photocaged biomolecules. As well as being Capable of modeling photo-responsive behavior using computational or theoretical approaches (e.g., molecular dynamics, or COMSOL Multiphysics) to guide experimental design.
Bonus Skills
• Understanding of sweat gland physiology or interstitial fluid transport.
• Knowledge of biocompatibility, flexible device mechanics, and regulatory standards.
• Experience in human testing or clinical collaborations.
• You have developed wearable sweat biosensing systems from 0 to 100% during your PhD or postdoc, and it’s a big plus.
• You are a Swiss/EU/EFTA citizen or hold a lucrative B permit in Switzerland.
