Description
We are hiring our new Senior Gas Originator to join our European Origination team.
This position is based in Geneva and reports to the Head of Gas Origination (N+1) and the Deputy SVP Trading Gas (N+2). The role is part of the Gas Trading Division within the Gas Renewables & Power branch.

TotalEnergies installed its European trading hub across in Geneva, which now bring together very large teams around trading activities: TotalEnergies Trading & Shipping (T&S) and TotalEnergies Gas and Power (TGP).
TotalEnergies Gas and Power (TGP) is the trading arm of TotalEnergies in the field of low carbon energies, belonging to the Gas Renewables & Power branch. As such, it operates in fast-evolving market dynamics influenced by internal and external factors that require constant adaptation and evolution.
Uncertainties specific to the trading environment (volatility of prices, supply & demand mismatches) are coupled with those coming from the broader energy sector (climate change policies, changes in the energy mix, developments of new energy sources, etc). In such context, Trading helps to ensure growth and profitability to a key segment of the business in order to reach the objective of Carbon Neutrality by 2050.
What you will do
You will be responsible for developing new third-party business in Eastern Europe, with a target P&L of at least $5 million per annum. This includes originating profitable new business from portfolio optimisation, accessing flexibility, credit structures, and other types of gas origination—from stakeholder engagement through to contract completion and delivery.
The role requires close collaboration with gas and LNG traders, trading support teams, legal, credit, compliance, and senior management to define and implement the Eastern Europe gas strategy in alignment with the broader TGP and GRP objectives.
You will be also represent TGP at external events, including conferences and industry meetings, and act as a key contributor to the Geneva-based Origination team.
You will play a central role in shaping and executing TGP’s gas strategy and business plan for Eastern Europe, ensuring full alignment with the broader objectives of the company. In this capacity, you will work in close collaboration with TGP’s gas and LNG traders, as well as senior management. Your responsibilities will also involve extensive coordination with Trading Support teams, Trading Analysis, Legal, Credit, and Compliance. Success in this role will rely on your ability to foster seamless communication and collaboration across all these functions.
Your key responsibilities will include:
Lead originator for Eastern European gas origination.
Define and implement TGP’s gas origination strategy in Eastern Europe.
Identify priority markets and facilitate TGP’s or other TotalEnergies entities’ setup with regulators, TSOs, and key counterparties.
Deliver profitable origination deals in collaboration with gas and LNG traders, including:
Gas supply (hedging and financing agreements)
Gas demand in target markets
Portfolio optimisation and LNG replacement optionality at local VTPs
Access to physical and virtual flexibility
Credit structures such as pre-payments
Market and infrastructure access arrangements
Structured and financial products
Establish and maintain strong relationships with counterparties to enhance access to opportunities and market intelligence.
Represent TGP in the gas wholesale trading community.
Support origination activities in other markets when needed
Accountabilities

Your profile
You hold a Master’s degree in engineering and/or finance
You have minimum 10 years of experience working in energy trading including a successful experience in gas origination and particularly in Eastern Europe.
You have proven track record of delivering strong P&L.
You have strong external network in the Eastern European gas and power industry.
You have in-depth knowledge of regional gas markets and regulatory frameworks.
You have experience working closely with trading desks.
You have strong project management, and negotiation skills.
You are forward-looking, self-motivated, and highly collaborative.
