Our client, a global organisation with expanding operations and a solid presence in Geneva, is seeking a:
Shipping Finance Legal Counsel to join its in-house legal department. This newly created position offers the opportunity to work at the heart of an international business involved in complex commercial activities and large-scale projects.
Your Responsibilities
In this role, you will act as a key legal partner to the business, supporting a broad variety of financing and commercial matters relating to the company's maritime activities.
Your responsibilities will include:
-Advising on shipping finance transactions, including vessel acquisitions, sales, leasing structures and refinancing arrangements
-Drafting, reviewing and negotiating a wide range of commercial agreements, such as charterparties, financing documents, project contracts and service agreements
-Supporting internal stakeholders on legal issues connected to operations, risk management, regulatory matters and strategic initiatives
-Managing external counsel and coordinating legal workstreams for international projects
-Contributing to the improvement of internal legal processes, templates and governance practices
-Ensuring compliance with relevant laws, industry standards and company policies across multiple jurisdictions
Your Profile
We are looking for a lawyer who enjoys combining analytical work with close interaction with business teams.
You bring:
-A legal qualification from the UK (Solicitor of England & Wales) or an equivalent common-law jurisdiction
-Several years of experience in shipping finance, asset finance, or commercial/transactional law, gained in a law firm or an international company
-Strong drafting and negotiation skills, with the ability to manage complex agreements
-A proactive mindset, sound judgment and the ability to navigate an international, fast-moving environment
-Excellent communication skills in English; other languages are an asset
