OUR PHILOSOPHY

At Beau Soleil, we believe it-s what you do that counts. This philosophy holds true in all that we do as staff and for our students. We are a community that believes in the power of action, engagement and participation, inside and outside of the classroom.

Our unique holistic education is built around four core values: Respect, Responsibility, Ambition and Determination, which provide a framework to community life for our international student body.

Our students come from over fifty different countries, with diverse academic backgrounds and a wide range of future aspirations.

With curricular programmes in both English and French, students graduate with an IB or Advanced Studies Diploma. Within this framework, small class sizes allow for a flexible programme and staff are encouraged and supported to bring new ideas to all that they do.

OUR COMMUNITY

Our location in the heart of Villars-sur-Ollon, offers an enviable lifestyle with access to skiing in the winter months and a multitude of outdoor and sporting activities throughout the year. Montreux, Lausanne and Geneva are all within easy reach for cultural adventures and inspiration.

The Beau Soleil campus is an inspiring place to work with facilities that are second to none. Our ongoing campus development and maintenence programme ensures that our students and staff thrive in an environment of which they can be rightly proud.

YOUR PROFILE

Is there a better place in the world to teach Geography? The rest of the world-s annual field trip destination is your everyday playground and research lab.

Living and working in the Swiss alps, you will be eager to share your passion for Geography with students from all over the world. Whether it is encouraging intellectual curiosity in our youngest students as they ask big questions about the world around us and current environmental issues, or advising a Grade 12 IB student on the fine tuning of their Internal Assessment methodology while out surveying a nearby glacier, our Geography teachers play a core role in building students- knowledge, skills and appreciation of the local environment as well as global issues.

Being part of a boarding school allows opportunities to share experiences and enthusiasm with students inside and outside the classroom, and you will be keen to see education as something deeper than just lessons or a syllabus. We believe it-s what you do that counts - and this carries over from classroom to village to mountain - and we are looking for people who share our enthusiasm for holistic education, experiential learning and community engagement.

With the opportunity to work within a creative and forward-looking Humanities faculty, this post is perfect for teachers who are passionate about their subject, enjoy engagement with young people, keen to share ideas, learn from others and who set the highest expectations of themselves and their classes. The role may also involve teaching our Integrated Humanities course to Grades 6 to 10 and the willingness to teach another subject such as IB Environmental Systems and Societies would be advantageous.

As a qualified teacher you will be a fluent English speaker, familiar with the IBDP curriculum and confident working with students from diverse backgrounds. You will be an excellent communicator and confident with technology; someone who gets on well with colleagues, students and parents.

Amongst other things, you-ll be well organised, have a good sense of humour and will want to participate fully in the extracurricular aspects of school life including the boarding house as well as the classroom. We have a comprehensive learning programme that includes Saturday morning academics and exciting challenges ranging from climbing 4000m peaks to night time ski racing.
