Position Summary:
Our Client is seeking a uniquely qualified individual with a rare blend of scientific, regulatory, policy, and global health expertise to lead its Geneva operations and spearhead international expansion of its diagnostic portfolio. This role demands a globally recognized leader with proven experience translating diagnostics from discovery through to WHO endorsement and national programmatic uptake, while maintaining active scientific output and stakeholder influence across WHO, StopTB, Global Fund, FIND, MSF and major donors.
Minimum Qualifications:
Hold an advanced degree (PhD, MD)
Minimum 12 years’ experience and track record of planning, conducting and analyzing clinical studies and trials
Have an exceptional track record and hands-on experience of research and development in LMIC settings, especially around tuberculosis, HIV, viral pathogens and other infectious diseases.
Demonstrated advanced understanding of molecular biology, immunoassays and cutting-edge diagnostics technologies
Have a demonstrated history of managing large teams and staff around the world.
Has served in a leadership position across multinational organisations
Possess cross-sector experience in academic, biotech, and global health and funder landscapes.
Have a track record of supporting regulatory and policy pathways to support WHO-approved diagnostic products.
Have worked in the settings of WHO GDG, PQ, TAG and TEGs, with detailed knowledge of the evidence requirements to support product approval.
Good understanding of pathways for IVD regulatory approvals or other mechanisms supporting UN/GF procurement agencies (e.g. CE-IVD, WHO PQ, ERPD, CDSCO, SAHPRA), health technology assessment, policy development and uptake.
Knowledge of the landscape of diagnostics for cutting-edge technologies.
Have successfully managed large budgets across multiple projects.
Have a demonstrated track record of innovative fundraising
Provide a thorough understanding of GXP for trials, manufacturing and laboratories.
Possess a strong network of stakeholders in governments of interest to future business ventures, with demonstrated evidence of influencing policy and donor alignment.
Demonstrated experience working and operating in BSL3 containment facilities.
Has verifiable soft skills in data-driven decision-making, staff motivation, and cross-cultural collaboration.
Clear understanding of tuberculosis, especially in diagnostics, and related public health issues. A good understanding of other infectious diseases would be an added benefit.
Relevant experience working in low and middle-income countries.
Superior scientific writing skills with a track record of publications and/or successful grant development as a PI
Strong ability to build relationships and partnerships, consensus building, conflict resolution
Excellent public speaking skills including for topics outside your specific expertise
