Description
Postulation : https://jobs.pave.space/jobs/pave_space_sa/automation-technician
Our first engine test bench needs to fire before the year is out. The cabinets, wiring, and electrical infrastructure behind it don't exist yet. You're the person who builds them.
PAVE Space is building LYOBA, a heavy kick stage moving up to 4-ton payloads from LEO to high-energy orbits in under 24 hours.
Why now?
We're commissioning our first rocket engine test bench by end of year. The propulsion engineers own the test logic; what they need is reliable electrical infrastructure underneath it : cabinets, sensors, wiring, all built clean and built to stay. You'll join an existing team and own the hands-on buildout from empty panels to ready-to-fire.
What you'll own
Electrical cabinet design, assembly, and wiring from scratch for engine test benches
Sensor and actuator integration: installing, wiring, and verifying industrial instrumentation
Electrical infrastructure across test site and workshop, built to be safe, clean, and maintainable
Drawing and implementing electrical schematics, ensuring what's on paper matches what's on the bench
Supporting data acquisition hardware installation alongside propulsion and test engineers
What we need
CFC in automation, electrical engineering, or equivalent (4-year apprenticeship for Swiss candidates; equivalent qualification or experience for international candidates)
Minimum 2 years professional experience building wiring cabinets, control panels, and electrical infrastructure
Hands-on experience with selection and operating industrial sensors, actuators, and data acquisition hardware
Ability to draw, interpret and implement electrical schematics and wiring diagrams fluently
Comfortable working in test site and workshop environments
Fluent English (our working language)
Nice to have: E-plan, PLC programming experience, HMI/GUI development, familiarity with aerospace or high-reliability test environments, French language skills.
You'll fit right in if
You take pride in a cabinet that's wired clean enough that someone else can troubleshoot it at 2 a.m.
You'd rather build infrastructure from nothing than maintain what someone else already set up.
You're comfortable on a test site where things change week to week and the next task isn't always the one you planned.
You want to see the bench you wired actually fire an engine.
Before you apply
The role is split between our workshop in Villeneuve (VD) and our test site in Chavalon, about 20 minutes away. Both are on-site, every day. You're joining an existing team, not working alone, but the infrastructure is being built from scratch. It's early, it's real hardware, and what you wire will be behind every engine test we run.
We are building to ship, grounded on real hardware, real funding, real milestones. Apply to contribute, or send this to the best automation technician you know.
