Description
The Neuroscape@NeuroTech Laboratory of the University Neurorehabilitation Service (SUN), is opening a PhD assistant position with an occupational rate between 80% and 100%, for the period from March 2026, to February 2027.
Contexte
The Laboratory of the , led by Prof. Arseny Sokolov at CHUV Lausanne is offering a PhD opportunity for a highly motivated and curious student within the framework of an exciting research project. This position is part of the new research program entitled “Integrative analyses of the brain networks underwriting everyday life social cognition.” The project is funded by the Swiss National Science Foundation (SNSF).
Our research group shows a solid expertise in cognitive neuroscience and a strong and dynamic network within the scientific community in Europe and the United States. We offer a collaborative and stimulating environment, access to state-of-the-art experimental equipment, and a unique opportunity to work at the interface between basic and clinical research. Our laboratories are located in the Department of Clinical Neurosciences at CHUV in Lausanne.
Mission
You will take part in a project aiming to identify the elements of the brain network and the causal, directed connectivity that underlie everyday social cognition. In this role, you will:
- Conduct neuroimaging experiments with both healthy participants and patients with brain lesions
- Administer behavioral tasks and collect neurobehavioral data
- Acquire and process neuroimaging data (MRI/fMRI) from patients and healthy controls
- Perform Voxel-Based Lesion-Symptom Mapping (VLSM) analyses and multimodal analyses of brain connectivity
- Contribute to interpreting the results to improve our understanding of the brain networks involved in social cognition.
Your work will help refine the conceptualization of the brain networks supporting social cognition and will pave the way for more accurate assessments and tailored neurorehabilitation interventions for patients with brain lesions.
Profil
- You are curious, open-minded, and passionate about research on the brain and social cognition
- You have prior experience conducting experiments with human participants and analyzing experimental data
- Your profile is versatile, with a strong interest in quantitative methods and experimental design. Experience working with patients is an additional advantage
- You hold a Master’s degree in neuroscience, experimental, cognitive or clinical psychology, or in a related field such as biomedical engineering or computer science applied to neuroscience
- You will join a , including senior postdoctoral researchers with strong expertise in neuroimaging and clinical cognitive neuroscience
- You will obtain your PhD degree in neuroscience through the , which offers high-level training covering both theoretical and experimental aspects of neuroscience.
