We are looking for a highly motivated postdoctoral researcher to join our team at CHUV, Epalinges, Switzerland. The project focuses on the preclinical investigation of T cell and immune synapse biology using super-resolution and live imaging microscopy, within the broader context of cellular immunotherapy and immune-oncology. It includes collaborative research efforts at the national level.

The successful candidate will be embedded in the newly established laboratory of Dr. Benita Wolf, located at the Biopôle Life Sciences campus in Epalinges, near Lausanne.

Contexte

The Lausanne University Hospital (CHUV) is one of five Swiss university hospitals. Through its collaboration with the Faculty of Biology and Medicine of the University of Lausanne and the EPFL, CHUV plays a leading role in the areas of medical care, medical research and training.

The Department of Oncology UNIL-CHUV brings together clinical and cancer research in a strong spirit of innovation. It comprises the services of medical oncology, immuno-oncology including advanced cellular therapies, radiation oncology, hematology including stem cell transplantation and the center for experimental therapies. It also integrates the Lausanne branch of the Ludwig Institute for Cancer Research (LICR), particularly in the field of immunotherapy.

Mission

You will work on a translational project investigating chimeric antigen receptor (CAR) T cells and other adoptive cell therapies, primarily through advanced microscopy approaches. Your responsibilities will include :

  • Visualizing the dynamics and nanoscale structure of immune synapses between engineered T cells and tumor cells
  • Investigating how different CAR constructs affect target cell killing
  • Actively contributing to internal presentations, departmental seminars, and scientific conferences
  • Assisting with the preparation of scientific publications, reports, and grant applications (in English)
  • Supporting the supervision of Master’s and PhD students and lab technicians.

Profil

  • PhD (or equivalent) in Physics, Biology, Biochemistry, Cancer Immunology, or a related field
  • Proven experience in cell culture techniques
  • Solid background in immunofluorescence and fluorescence microscopy
  • Familiarity with automated image analysis workflows
  • Prior experience in human immunology and lymphocyte engineering is a strong asset
  • Keen interest in translational immune-oncology (experience is a plus but not required)
  • Proficiency in flow cytometry and standard computational tools
  • Fluent in English (spoken and written), including scientific communication
  • Adaptable, self-motivated, and comfortable in a dynamic research environmen.
