ROLE OVERVIEW
The Private Banking Relationship Manager will drive the development and management of a portfolio of high-net-worth clients from West Africa, especially Nigeria. This role requires a highly experienced professional with a proven track record as both a "hunter" (acquiring new assets) and a "farmer" (managing and growing existing assets). The ideal candidate will possess deep cultural and linguistic knowledge about West Africa, especially Nigeria, robust regulatory expertise, and comprehensive experience in portfolio management across a broad range of asset classes.

Emerald Management SA open and manage private banking accounts for its clients in its custodian banks. Its clients include high net worth individuals, families, corporate entities, special purpose vehicles and family offices.

The products/services rendered to its clients include:
Current and deposit accounts in all major currencies;

Investment portfolio management across all asset classes, including cash, fixed income, equities, commodities, structured products, alternative investments and real estate;
Asset backed credit in all major currencies;
Residential and commercial property lending;
Luxury item financing (including private aircraft & yachts);
Introductions for fiduciary planning (including the establishment and administration of companies, trusts, and foundations). Access to its network of tax planning, accounting and legal professionals;
Introductions for trade finance, corporate finance, investment banking and corporate financial advisory through its custodian banks and other financial services partners;
Property services including search, acquisition, sale and management of residential and commercial properties in Switzerland and the United Kingdom.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES
Client acquisition & portfolio development (« hunter »);
Proactively identify, prospect, and onboard new hnw/uhnw clients from West Africa, with a focus on Nigeria;
Demonstrate a proven ability to attract new assets under management of at least USD 100 million within a 24-month period;
Execute targeted business development strategies leveraging cultural insights and networks ;
Relationship management & portfolio growth ("farmer");
Maintain and deepen long-term relationships with existing clients, ensuring exceptional service and portfolio growth;
Actively manage client portfolios, recommending investment strategies aligned with client objectives and risk profiles;
Collaborate with internal teams to deliver comprehensive wealth management solutions ;
Portfolio management across asset classes;
Demonstrate strong understanding and hands-on experience managing portfolios that include: cash and quasi-cash instruments, fixed income securities, structured investments, equities, collective investments (e.g.: mutual funds, ETFs), commodities, alternative investments, private debt, private equity;
Apply in-depth knowledge of West African and in particular Nigerian cultures and languages (yoruba, igbo, hausa, ijaw) to foster trust and engagement;
Understand West African traditions and business practices to tailor relationship management approaches;
Understand geopolitical and economic environment in West Africa, and specifically Nigeria ;
Cross-border regulatory & compliance oversight;
Possess thorough knowledge of Swiss and FINMA regulations, with a focus on cross-border marketing compliance;
Ensure all client acquisition, marketing, and portfolio management activities adhere to relevant legal and regulatory frameworks;
Lead KYC/AML compliance processes in coordination with internal compliance teams;
Operational excellence;
Maintain accurate client records and ensure timely execution of transactions and reporting;
Monitor portfolio performance and provide clients with regular updates and strategic advice.

REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS
Experience 10 to 15 years in private banking or portfolio management, with extensive experience managing West African, particularly Nigerian clients;
Track record proven ability as a "hunter" and "farmer" with documented success attracting at least USD 100 million in new AUM within 24 months;
Portfolio management expertise demonstrated understanding of managing portfolios across cash, quasi-cash, fixed income, structured investments, equities, collective investments, commodities, alternative investments, private debt, and private equity;
Cultural knowledge deep understanding of Nigerian cultures, traditions, and languages (Yoruba, Igbo, Hausa, Ijaw);
Education & qualifications: University Bachelors Degree & Masters Degree/MBA, professional investment management qualifications (e.g., CFA, CAIA, CWMA);
Investment expertise in-depth knowledge of investment products, portfolio construction, and wealth management strategies;
Languages: fluent in English and proficient in one or more Nigerian languages (Yoruba, Igbo, Hausa, Ijaw);
Regulatory knowledge strong understanding of Swiss financial regulations, FINMA compliance, and cross-border marketing rules aligned with FINMA;
Personal attributes: excellent interpersonal skills, culturally sensitive, proactive, client-focused, ethical, and resilient;
Swiss & international experience in Swiss private banking with international clientele preferred.
Additional information;
Office based in Geneva with occasional travel to West Africa.
