Description

The Neurosurgery Department is looking for a researcher to work on the “NeuroRestore” project at a rate of 80% - 100%.

Contexte

The Lausanne University Hospital (CHUV) is one of five Swiss university hospitals. Through its collaboration with the Faculty of Biology and Medicine of the University of Lausanne and the EPFL, CHUV plays a leading role in the areas of medical care, medical research and training.

NeuroRestore is a research, innovation center spanning EPFL, CHUV and UNIL that develops and applies bioengineering strategies involving neurosurgical interventions to restore neurological functions. We integrate implantable neurotechnologiesangla and innovative treatments resulting from rigorous preclinical studies that have been conducted during the last 15 years in rodent and non-human primate models. These developments have led to breakthroughs for the treatment of paraplegia, tetraplegia, Parkinson’s disease, stroke, and traumatic brain injuries.

Mission

NeuroRestore is offering a Clinical Research Engineer position to work on the development of neurorehabilitation therapies for patient with motor disabilities (spinal cord injury).

The candidate’s main duties include:

  • Supporting NeuroRestore researchers and clinicians at CHUV in implementing clinical study protocols and conducting data analysis to advance neurorehabilitation therapies
  • Interacting with clinical study participants daily and serving as interface between the study participants and the research and medical team
  • Coordinating rehabilitation sessions with study participant (operating neurorehabilitation technologies)
  • Assisting in the evaluation of study participants’ motor function (e.g. gait analysis, placement of EMG sensors)
  •  Coordinating data verification and compliance according to study protocols
  • Device accountability across different studies
  • Training of study participants on the use of medical devices
  • Traveling to partner clinics or external research sites when required to support study-related activities.

Profil

The candidate will have:

  • Master’s degree in health sciences, such as Biomedical Engineering, Neuroscience, Biology, or a related field, from an accredited institution (or equivalent qualification)
  • Strong data analysis skills
  • Excellent team-working and problem-solving skills
  • Excellent project and time management skills combined with strong demonstrated organizational and multi-tasking skills
  • Excellent oral and written communication
  • Fluent in English, French and German are a plus.

It would be a plus to have:

-          Experience with patient care and understanding of health environment

-          Experience in conducting clinical research

-          Good knowledge of clinical trial documentation.
