Main Purpose
Leverage legal expertise in bridging the gap between front and CA team, ensuring robust risk management while meeting commercial objectives.
Knowledge, Skills and Abilities
Strong business acumen and knowledge of commodities trading, operations, trade finance instruments, laytime & demurrage, Incoterms
Excellent drafting, contract analysis and negotiation capabilities
Superior communication skills across different organisation levels
Excellent business relationships – capacity to understand different expectations of traders and counterparties
Ability to balance commercial priorities with contractual risk management
Able to prioritise – queries, follow-ups, urgency
Decision-making ability under pressure Background
University degree in law. Licensed to practice law.
More than 10 years’ experience
Fluent in spoken and written English. French and Hindi proficiency would be an asset
Must be willing to travel and to work in office
Key Responsibilities
Collaborative partner to traders, making the bridge with the CA team
Translate trading requirements into actionable contract administration priorities
Contribute to the CA team education on legal knowledge, trading environment and business objectives aiming at improving CA team response time
Liaise with internal teams to seek ways to improve contract production
Support business growth
Identify which contractual terms are negotiable versus which require strict adherence

The Contracts Administration (“CA”) team is responsible for producing, reviewing and negotiating a range of contractual documentation for a range of commodities including crude oil and petroleum products, power and gas. The CA team is based in four different international locations (Mumbai, Montevideo, Athens, Calgary) and has global responsibility necessitating the daily interaction with numerous internal teams (such as Operations, Trading, Finance and Legal) across the business as well as external counterparties. The CA team is a key risk management function for the business and is providing an essential service for the organization.
