Area Sales Manager Switzerland & France Travel Retail


What this role is about?

Area Sales Manager will be working very closely with the Regional Sales Manager of Western Europe Travel Retail, the area's Marketing Activator (MA), area's Finance Manager, the central Global Travel Retail functions and is responsible for all aspects of territory management and commercial deployment for Switzerland & France Travel Retail.

Area Sales Manager establishes very close links with the Travel Retail Operators/Key Accounts & Distributors and manages the implementation of consumer & trade marketing programs and managing operational commercial activities (i.e. IPAs). You will monitor implementation of KPIs, and competitive activities. You will take an active part in development and implementation of (key) account plans and agreements and monitors (key) account compliance.


What will you do?


  • Responsibility for the market/area P&L targets achievement
  • Establishing the rolling forecast, LE input. In conjunction with other regional functions responsible for the assigned territory sales analysis and planning manager and marketing budget planning manager, investing, phasing/savings management maximising the efficiency of company`s investment
  • Direct interface and relationship management with customers, trade and respective Domestic markets for optimal, strategic alignment. Ensuring documents flow (contracts, invoices etc.) and sales integrity procedures (LMD, KYC etc.) compliance for the assigned territory
  • Responsibility for AP and SP plans development and alignment for the assigned territory
  • Effective implementation of sales, distribution, through-the-line marketing strategies including development and implementation of Portfolio and Pricing strategies, merchandising, shelf-space, and promotional programs. Monitors progress, recommends corrective action where necessary
  • Executional KPI monitoring and reporting results to the RSM and RSD, including but not limited to: sales volume, pricing, stock management and brand listings. Being responsible for discovering and implementing JTI business opportunities by analysing Strategic Insights data and market/passenger developments
  • Territory management, field force deployment decisions as well as coaching, developing and motivating outsourced personnel (where applicable). Responsible for field intelligence and data gathering through sales force automation tool provided (TME)
  • In conjunction with the line manager and support functions, initiates/terminates 3rd party relationships (contracts) regarding in-store promotional and advertising activities

What are we looking for?


  • University degree or equivalent
  • 3-5 years of experience in sales & distribution/channel management/field trade marketing
  • Experience in consumer/trade promotions management, preferably within FMCG/Travel Retail industry with Key Account Management experience
  • Cross cultural experience is an advantage, Cross functional experience is an advantage, Travel retail experience would be an asset
  • Computer literate: SAP, TM1, PBI, TEAMS is a plus
  • Excel skills: medium / high level, capacity to deal with large data
  • Financial Skills, Negotiation Skills, Process/Project Management, Regional Tabacco Legislation, Customer Service, Decision Making, Analysis & Problem solving, Trade Research, Trade Segmentation, Merchandizing Management, Key Account Management, Distribution Management, Territory & Field Force Planning & Management, Time Management, Interpersonal Skill
  • Fluent in English, both written and spoken - French would be a huge asset
  • Knowledge of additional languages is a plus
