Job Summary
We are seeking a highly analytical and innovative Global Agricultural Meteorologist to advance the use of weather intelligence, meteorological data, and predictive analytics in global agricultural markets.
The successful candidate will bring a strong understanding of how weather patterns and climate variability influence global soft commodities, grains, oilseeds, and agricultural supply chains. Combining meteorological expertise with advanced data science and cloud computing capabilities, the candidate will develop innovative weather-driven insights, analytical tools, and data products designed to enhance market understanding and inform trading decisions.
This role offers an opportunity to push the boundaries of applied meteorology, translating complex weather data into actionable intelligence and developing new approaches to identifying agricultural market opportunities and assessing supply chain risks.

Duties & Responsibilities
Analyse global weather patterns, forecasts, and climate developments to assess their potential impact on the production, availability, transportation, and distribution of agricultural commodities, including softs, grains, and oilseeds
Evaluate weather-related risks across global agricultural supply chains, identifying potential disruptions, production shortfalls, and other developments that could influence commodity markets
Source, process, analyse, and manage large-scale meteorological datasets, developing robust and efficient workflows to transform complex atmospheric data into usable analytical outputs
Develop and apply statistical, machine learning, and advanced computational techniques to investigate relationships between weather conditions, agricultural production, and market outcomes
Present complex meteorological and quantitative findings clearly and concisely, ensuring that technical insights can be understood and applied by both technical and non-technical audiences

Education & Experience
At least 10 years’ experience in commodity focussed meteorology
A Bachelor’s degree in Meteorology, Atmospheric Science, or a closely related discipline is required
A Master’s degree or PhD in Meteorology, Atmospheric Science, or a relevant quantitative field is strongly preferred
Extensive practical experience working with large-scale meteorological datasets, including the processing, analysis, and interpretation of complex weather data
Strong programming skills in Python, with experience using relevant scientific computing and geospatial libraries, including xarray, pandas, Cartopy, GeoPandas, Dask, scikit-learn, PyTorch, and JAX
A strong understanding of the influence of weather and climate on agricultural production, global soft commodities, grains, oilseeds, and associated supply chain risks
The ability to integrate meteorological expertise with quantitative analysis to generate insights relevant to commercial decision-making
Excellent written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to explain complex scientific concepts and analytical results to diverse audiences
Previous experience working directly with trading desks or within a commodities trading environment, ideally developing analytical tools, predictive models, or data products that support time-sensitive commercial decisions
A demonstrated interest in pushing the boundaries of applied meteorology, data science, and machine learning to uncover new sources of actionable market intelligence
